Diet and Hair Loss

While good shampoos, conditioners and treatments are essential for healthy hair, a balanced diet is also necessary for healthy hair and scalp. But what food really makes the difference? Our Hair Loss Experts suggest adding or increasing the below foods into your diets for thicker, shinier and healthy hair: 

As hair is made of protein, having a protein rich diet is key to promoting cell growth and repair. Not enough protein can result in the hair to “rest” and old hair to fall out, resulting in hair loss. Fish and meet are all great sources of protein. For those veggies, Lentils, Eggs and Nuts are protein-rich options. We love the protein Eat Natural bars, tasty and protein packed! Spinach – One of the world’s healthiest foods, full of Iron, Vitamin A, C and E. This superfood contains great minerals for healthy hair. Iron in particular is amazing for hair, in fact Iron Deficiency is a common reason for hair loss in women.  So move over Popeye, we are ready to rival your spinach intake! Almond Butter, a great source of protein but also rich in Vitamin E. A study in 2009 showed that Vitamin E helped hair growth by 42% for those suffering with Male Pattern Baldness (which is the cause of around 95% of male hair loss causes). Great on rice cakes, on toast or just grab the jar and a spoon! Salmon contains Omega 3 Fatty Acids which helps promote hair growth by keeping the scalp healthy. Salmon is also full of hair promoters such as Vitamin D and protein, not only does our fishy friend help us get silky locks it’s also said to be a mood booster! Greek Yoghurt, notice our Greek ancestors had luscious flowing locks? Coincidence? Nope! It’s thanks to loads of Greek Yoghurt! Not only is it delicious, it’s also full of protein and also Vitamin B5 which helps against hair thinning and hair loss. Greek Yoghurt with fresh berries and a fab hair boosting combination.
