Chanel Inspired Party Season Hair

21st December 2019

Chanel's biannual Metiers d'Art show has given a new lease of life to the ponytail. This simple, decorative trend will work for this year’s party season and into the New Year.

A section of hair at the crown was pulled away from the face and secured into a small ponytail. The section taken was the width of the girls' heads on top, and then neatly finished with a decorative clasp. '(The) Hair was luxurious, shiny, and healthy and inspired by Elisabeth (Sisi) the Nineteenth Century Empress of Austria with a little early-Seventies Bardot and a lot of 21stCentury ease,' said Sam McKnight, hairstylist at the Chanel show.

To achieve this look firstly blow-dry the top and front of your hair back from the face with a dab of mousse, giving it natural movement using a medium sized curling iron and spritzing with a dry texturizing spray. Then pull the front section of your hair back from the face and fasten it with an accessory. In the Chanel show some models wore jewelled barrettes whilst others had black satin bows, or occasionally both. This is such an effortless and easy trend to achieve!

This hair trend can also work for short hair. Firstly prep your hair by applying a heat protection product and then curl your hair using a 1.2 inch tong, ensuring that you wind the hair in the same direction each time. Next, spray your hair with an oil shine spray for added shine and gently brush through the curl to create a softer wave. Finish the hair with an invisible hairspray and a decorative hair clasp beautifully placed on the side of your head to create a little Chanel style.
