Olaplex no2 Review

16th February 2018

Guest Blog by Suzy Ashcroft-Batty (Head of Marketing) Bleach, Sun-In (oh thank you 90’s), home dye kits, extensions and even the odd hair mascara. My hair has had it all. And after bleaching it (damn you mousy brown) for nearly 15 years it’s pretty fair to say my hair is damaged. I miss my teenage thick and glossy hair but not colouring my hair is a no-go and I am a lover of blonde. So what’s a girl to do? Enter: Olaplex

We have mentioned Olaplex on the blog before but I thought I would put it to the test myself. I am Head of Marketing at David Rozman and not from a hairdressing background so I am looking at this product from a non-technical view if you like. As I wasn’t getting my colour done (that’s a future blog post) the lovely stylist Hannah suggested I just try Olaplex 2. So what is Olaplex and how does it work? As Olaplex state: "Olaplex is free of silicones, sulfates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes and gluten and is never tested on animals. Olaplex reconnects broken disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair. Hair bonds are broken during thermal, mechanical and chemical services." There are three different stages of Olaplex, 1, 2 and 3. Olaplex 1 and 2 are to be used by professionals in a salon and Olaplex 3 is a post colour, take home treatment. Olaplex 1 is a ‘bond multiplier’ and to be mixed in with all colour, balayage and bleach. I will review this when I get my colour done. Olaplex 2 is a 'bond perfector’ and to be used after rinsing hair. Hannah started by putting the treatment on my hair and combing it through. Then true to the ‘David Rozman Hair Experience’ she placed a cosy heated towel on my head and left me to relax for 10 minutes. After the Bond Perfector had worked its magic she washed and conditioned my hair with Alterna Caviar RepairX (Shampoo and Conditioner) and gave me a divine head massage. Following a little trim (goodbye split ends) and a bouncy blow, this was the result:

Now I had this treatment 1 month ago. I wanted to see if the results would last and how my hair would feel weeks after. I have found less breakage, my hair feels glossier and easier to manage. It is now a joy to wash and blow dry my hair with less hair ending up in the shower and on my hair brush. Styling is now easy with my hair still feeling silky smooth. The thickness is definitely starting to reappear and while I don’t quite feel that my teenage locks are back it is definitely progress. I think using Olaplex 1 when I next colour my hair and using Olaplex 2 every 6 weeks I will definitely be seeing a huge difference. True to its reputation, Olaplex is definitely revolutionary.
